Backsplashes, showers, and feature walls
Wall tile is where a tile setter’s skill shows the most. Cuts around outlets, end pieces against cabinets, and grout lines at the ceiling all sit at eye level — there’s nowhere to hide a sloppy job. The Flooring House installs wall tile across Greater Charlotte for kitchen backsplashes, shower surrounds, full wet walls, and accent feature walls.
We carry subway tile, handmade zellige, large-format porcelain slabs, marble, and glass mosaic — including the textured 3D tile that’s become a popular pick in primary bathrooms.

Where wall tile changes a room
A well-chosen wall tile is one of the most affordable ways to make a room look custom-built. Most projects finish in 2-3 days, for a fraction of what a cabinet or countertop remodel would cost.
- Kitchen backsplashes — protects walls from grease and water while finishing the room’s design
- Shower and tub surrounds — waterproof, easy to clean, built to last as long as the house
- Powder room feature walls — a high-impact look without a full remodel
- Fireplace surrounds — heat-safe tile in stone or concrete looks
- Laundry and mudroom splash walls — protects drywall from water and everyday grime

How we install wall tile right
We check the wall for plumb and flat first — even a 1/8" bow over 4 feet will telegraph through the tile. We add backer board or skim-coat as needed, then dry-lay the pattern to confirm cuts fall in balanced places, centered over the range or symmetrical at corners.
Showers get a full waterproofing membrane behind the tile, niches are framed and waterproofed before tile goes up, and every cut around an outlet is hand-trimmed to fit cleanly behind the cover plate. We finish with sealed grout (or epoxy on showers) and a final wipe-down.

Wall Tiles - frequently asked questions
Yes — every shower we install includes a full waterproofing membrane behind the tile, a properly sloped pre-pitch, and a sealed pan. We won’t install shower tile without it.
For dry-area backsplashes away from sinks, yes. For shower surrounds and wet walls, we always strip to the studs and install cement backer board or a foam tile-backer system instead.
We bring grout samples to your in-home estimate so you can choose the color before install day. Many homeowners pick a tone-on-tone grout that fades the lines, though contrast grout has come back in style for subway tile.

Honest, no-pressure advice Ryan spent years on the manufacturer side and on install crews before opening his own doors — he’d rather tell you the truth about a product than talk you into one you don’t need.
A small crew that answers the phone You’re working directly with the family that owns the business, not a call center. Ryan personally checks in after the crew wraps up to make sure the job was done right.
