Solving the loudest room in the house
Stairs take more daily abuse than any other surface in a home, and they’re the part most likely to send someone to the ER in socks. A properly carpeted staircase softens all of it at once — quieter footsteps, a safer landing, and a surface that hides everyday wear.
The Flooring House handles layout, padding, tackless strips, and the finish details — waterfall or Hollywood wrap, French cap nosings, custom binding — so every stair lines up cleanly from top to bottom.

Wall-to-wall or a stair runner?
Full wall-to-wall carpet is the warmest, quietest, most pet-friendly option, and there’s no exposed wood edge to scuff or scratch.
A stair runner leaves the wood visible on either side and looks especially sharp with painted risers or open balusters. Our runners typically finish 27" or 32" wide with edges custom-bound to match or contrast with your trim — the same surging and binding service we use on standalone area rugs.
- Low-pile nylon — the most durable fiber for high-traffic stairs
- Wool or wool-blend runners — a premium look that resists stains naturally
- Solution-dyed polyester — the pick for households with kids and pets
- Custom binding in 30+ colors to match your trim work

Why carpet still beats hardwood on many staircases
Bare hardwood stairs look sharp but they’re slick in socks, loud underfoot, and unforgiving on a dropped phone. Quality carpet absorbs a meaningful amount of impact noise and gives kids or older family members a softer landing. If a family dog struggles for traction on wood or luxury vinyl plank stairs, carpet solves that overnight.

How the install actually goes
We start by pulling the old carpet, pad, staples, and tack strip and checking the wood underneath — loose treads get re-screwed, squeaks get glued before anything new goes down. Then fresh 8-pound rebond pad, tackless strips on every tread and riser, and a knee-kicker-plus-power-stretch install that stays tight for years, with every seam heat-bonded so there’s nothing to fray at the nosing.

Carpet Stairs - frequently asked questions
Low-pile nylon and solution-dyed polyester hold up to the constant friction stairs see. We steer people away from deep plush pile — it crushes at the nosing fast.
It hides them from view, but we fix them for real first. Every loose tread gets re-screwed and open joints get glued before new carpet goes down.
Yes, as long as the treads are structurally sound. We use a method that protects the wood, so a future owner (or you) can switch back to bare hardwood.
It wears well and looks great, but skip it if you have cats — the loops snag on claws.

Why homeowners choose us
We bring the showroom to you No trip to a big-box store under fluorescent lighting. We load real samples into the truck and bring them to your kitchen table, so you see exactly how a floor will look in your own home before you commit.
Honest, no-pressure advice Ryan spent years on the manufacturer side and on install crews before opening his own doors — he’d rather tell you the truth about a product than talk you into one you don’t need.
A small crew that answers the phone You’re working directly with the family that owns the business, not a call center. Ryan personally checks in after the crew wraps up to make sure the job was done right.
