Greater Charlotte's tile installation team

Tile is the most permanent floor you can put in a home — and one of the easiest to install badly. A great tile job depends far more on subfloor prep, mortar coverage, and layout than on the tile itself. The Flooring House uses large-format-rated mortars and Schluter uncoupling membranes on every wet-area install so your tile lasts as long as the house does.

We supply and install ceramic, porcelain, natural stone, and mosaic tile for floors, showers, backsplashes, and full commercial spaces across Greater Charlotte.

Where tile is the right call

Tile is unmatched in any room that sees water, heat, or heavy traffic. Bathrooms, mudrooms, laundry rooms, entryways, and kitchens all benefit from a properly installed tile floor.

  • Bathrooms and showers — fully waterproof when installed with a proper membrane system
  • Kitchens — heat-resistant, stain-resistant, and simple to wipe clean
  • Entryways and mudrooms — handles road salt and wet boots without complaint
  • Heated floors — tile conducts radiant in-floor heat better than almost anything else
  • Commercial spaces — meets slip-resistance and durability codes for restaurants and retail

How we install tile that actually lasts

We start with a full subfloor inspection — any deflection, moisture, or unevenness gets fixed before a single tile is set. We use modified thinset rated for the tile size, back-butter large-format tiles for full coverage, and use leveling clips on planks and large rectangles to eliminate lippage. Showers get a proper waterproofing membrane, a sloped pre-pitch mortar bed, and a bonded curb.

Every install finishes with sealed grout (or epoxy grout on request) and a final detail walk before we hand the space back to you.

Tile Flooring - frequently asked questions

Most rooms take 2-3 days — day one for demo and prep, day two to set tile, day three for grout and sealing. Showers and large-format installs can add a day or two.

On plywood subfloors and any heated floor, yes — it prevents cracked tile and grout from substrate movement. On a concrete slab it’s optional, though we still recommend it in wet areas.

Sometimes — if the existing tile is solidly bonded, flat, and the added height won’t cause door clearance issues. Otherwise we remove it and start fresh.

Standard cement grout will eventually stain if it isn’t sealed. We seal all grout on install day, and we offer epoxy grout — stain-proof, no sealing needed — as an upgrade in kitchens and showers.

Why homeowners choose us

We bring the showroom to you No trip to a big-box store under fluorescent lighting. We load real samples into the truck and bring them to your kitchen table, so you see exactly how a floor will look in your own home before you commit.

Honest, no-pressure advice Ryan spent years on the manufacturer side and on install crews before opening his own doors — he’d rather tell you the truth about a product than talk you into one you don’t need.

A small crew that answers the phone You’re working directly with the family that owns the business, not a call center. Ryan personally checks in after the crew wraps up to make sure the job was done right.

The Flooring House is family-owned and run by Ryan Davis, who came up as a Mohawk Flooring sales rep before working install crews across the country. We bring real samples to your home for a free, no-pressure estimate instead of asking you to drive to a showroom — and Ryan personally stands behind every job.
It’s how a small, family-run business earns its reputation. We’re proud of our 5.0-star rating on Google, and customers consistently mention Ryan following up personally after the install to make sure everything’s right — that’s not an accident, it’s how we operate on every project.
Yes — carpet, solid and engineered hardwood, luxury vinyl plank and tile, ceramic and porcelain tile, and laminate, for both residential and commercial spaces. We also handle furniture removal and return, on-site area-rug customization, and stair-runner surging and binding.
If you ever notice an issue with your flooring, document it and reach out right away. Ryan and the crew will come take a look and make sure your floor is restored to the condition it should be in — we don’t consider a job finished until you’re happy with it.
