One hundred percent real wood, floor to floor
There’s no substitute for solid hardwood — a full 3/4" plank of genuine wood, nailed into a plywood subfloor, that can be sanded and refinished for generations. The Flooring House sells and installs it across Lake Wylie and the surrounding Greater Charlotte communities, from new-construction homes going up near Fort Mill to older crawl-space houses in York and Clover that were built for exactly this kind of flooring.

Species, brands, and custom finishing
We carry Bruce, Kährs, Mannington, Shaw, and Armstrong solid hardwood, and because we order in volume directly from the mill, we’re able to hold pricing close to what a big-box retailer charges — without the retail markup. If you’d rather start from unfinished wood, we stain and finish it on-site to whatever color you have in mind; see the hardwood flooring overview for the full range of species we stock.

Installation, pattern by pattern
Our installers handle nail-down and glue-down solid hardwood over plywood, and every job follows wood-industry installation standards from acclimation through the final coat. Beyond classic straight-lay boards, we install diagonal runs, herringbone and chevron patterns, and custom medallions and inlays for homeowners who want a genuine showpiece floor.

Solid wood on stairs
A staircase gets more attention than almost any other surface in the house, and solid wood stairs are close to 90% labor — the craft is in the custom nosings, the fit at every riser, and the finish that ties the staircase to the floor around it. Visit our dedicated hardwood stairs page for square nosings, open-style stairs, and site-finished treads, or book a free measure and we’ll price your exact staircase.

Real & Solid Hardwood Flooring - frequently asked questions
Properly installed solid hardwood typically lasts 50-100+ years, and it can be sanded and refinished 6-10 times over that span — it usually outlasts the mortgage and adds real resale value.
Not directly — it needs a wood subfloor. Over a slab, we can install plywood first or point you to engineered hardwood instead, which is dimensionally stable and glue-down friendly.
Prefinished planks arrive sealed from the factory, which means a faster install with a slight bevel between boards. Site-finished wood is sanded and coated inside your home for a flat, fully custom color.
Solid wood reacts to moisture and temperature swings, so we usually recommend engineered hardwood over radiant heat instead. If you’re set on solid wood, we’ll specify narrower boards and rift-and-quartered cuts to minimize movement.

Why homeowners choose us
We bring the showroom to you No trip to a big-box store under fluorescent lighting. We load real samples into the truck and bring them to your kitchen table, so you see exactly how a floor will look in your own home before you commit.
Honest, no-pressure advice Ryan spent years on the manufacturer side and on install crews before opening his own doors — he’d rather tell you the truth about a product than talk you into one you don’t need.
A small crew that answers the phone You’re working directly with the family that owns the business, not a call center. Ryan personally checks in after the crew wraps up to make sure the job was done right.
