Where mosaics make the biggest impact
Mosaic tile is the detail that takes a project from finished to designed. A feature wall, shower floor, or backsplash band in glass, marble, or penny-round mosaic adds a custom-built feel that flat tile alone can’t match. The Flooring House sources and installs mosaic tile across Greater Charlotte in glass, ceramic, natural stone, hex, and penny-round patterns.
Mosaic is also the right choice for shower floors — the small pieces follow the slope without lippage, and the extra grout lines add slip resistance exactly where it’s needed.

Where mosaic tile belongs
Mosaics shine as an accent, a transition, or in a space small enough that the detail reads at a glance.
- Shower floors — small pieces hug the slope to the drain and resist slips
- Kitchen backsplash bands — a mosaic stripe between subway tile and the upper cabinets
- Niches and inset accents — turns a shower niche into a feature instead of a gap in the wall
- Powder room walls — real impact in a small footprint

Installed with attention to the seams
Most mosaics arrive on mesh-backed sheets around 12x12. The real skill is in the seams between sheets — lined up wrong, you’ll see a grid pattern across the whole install. We dry-lay every sheet and hand-pull individual tiles to break the pattern at sheet edges, using white thinset under glass mosaics so the color stays true.
Glass mosaics take extra care — we cut them with a wet saw and diamond blade rather than snapping them, and we use non-sanded grout to avoid scratching the glass face. See our full wall tile options if you’re planning a bigger backsplash or feature wall alongside the mosaic accent.

Mosaic Tile - frequently asked questions
It’s one of the best options. The small tile size follows the slope to the drain, and the extra grout lines add grip even when the floor is wet.
Cement grout can darken over time, especially in light colors. For showers and busy backsplashes we recommend epoxy grout instead — stain-proof and no sealing required.
Yes — we’ve installed custom medallions, mixed-material borders, and one-off patterns from a designer’s sketch. Bring us the inspiration photo and we’ll price it out.

Honest, no-pressure advice Ryan spent years on the manufacturer side and on install crews before opening his own doors — he’d rather tell you the truth about a product than talk you into one you don’t need.
