Marble, travertine, and slate, done the right way
Natural stone is the most striking flooring you can install, and it’s also the most demanding to get right. Every stone reacts differently to mortar, sealer, and the saw, and a job done wrong can haunt a home for decades. The Flooring House installs natural stone across Greater Charlotte in marble, travertine, slate, and limestone.
We source premium-grade stone from quarries we trust, and we won’t install bargain-bin stone that’s prone to spalling, pitting, or breaking under foot traffic.

Choosing the right stone for the room
Each stone has its own strengths — the right pick depends on where it’s going, how much traffic it sees, and how much upkeep you’re willing to do.
- Marble — timeless luxury for bathrooms and feature areas; needs sealing and gentle cleaners
- Travertine — warm earth tones, slightly porous; ideal for entries, sunrooms, and patios
- Slate — rugged and naturally slip-resistant; great for mudrooms and outdoor walks
- Limestone — a soft matte finish with a classic European look; bathrooms and powder rooms

Sealing, honing, and lifetime care
Natural stone gets sealed at installation and needs re-sealing every 1-3 years — we’ll walk you through the schedule for your specific stone. We use premium impregnating sealers that block moisture and oils without changing the stone’s look.
Stone can also be re-honed or re-polished if it ever dulls or scratches. We’re one of the few local shops that handles on-site stone restoration, so the investment lasts the life of the home. If you’d like the look without the sealing schedule, our porcelain line does a convincing marble impression too.

Natural Stone Tile - frequently asked questions
Yes — all natural stone is porous to some degree and will stain without a sealer. We seal on installation day and recommend a refresh every 1-3 years depending on traffic.
Honestly, marble does etch from acidic liquids like lemon juice or wine. Most homeowners come to love the patina it develops, but if you’d rather it look new forever, we’ll point you toward a marble-look porcelain instead.
Absolutely — stone holds and conducts heat exceptionally well, and we install electric mat systems under most of the stone floors we do.
We keep a record of every stone we install and where it came from, so in most cases we can source a matching tile for a single-piece replacement.

Why homeowners choose us
We bring the showroom to you No trip to a big-box store under fluorescent lighting. We load real samples into the truck and bring them to your kitchen table, so you see exactly how a floor will look in your own home before you commit.
Honest, no-pressure advice Ryan spent years on the manufacturer side and on install crews before opening his own doors — he’d rather tell you the truth about a product than talk you into one you don’t need.
A small crew that answers the phone You’re working directly with the family that owns the business, not a call center. Ryan personally checks in after the crew wraps up to make sure the job was done right.
